Philips had a long history in plastics molding and precision tool-making (since 1927!), and we are still relying on this experience. We have the toolshop in Triumph HT Optics of course, but also HTPtooling and VDL Precision in Eindhoven, as direct descendants of the technology powerhouse that Philips maintained until recently.
Outgrowing older and more mature markets like CD lenses and Barcode reading, we have acquired the necessary skills for entering the growing markets for mobile imaging and solar concentrators. Needless to say that the strength in precision toolbuilding has been put to use in the concepts for our optical tools, geared for ultra high volume production, setting new standards of plastic lens precision and yields.
